Lambretta scooters returning to USA.!

Lambretta International announced today in Seattle, Washington that the world famous Italian scooter brand "Lambretta" will be returning to the North American scooter market in 2004.

Lambretta was introduced to the USA market in the 1950s to compete with Vespa, another Italian scooter. The two Italian pioneers in the scooter industry soon dominated the USA scooter market, and have continued to maintain a high level of enthusiasm amongst the scootering community. Even during their absence, both had managed to remain as icons in the scooter industry.

Vespa scooters, built by Piaggio, returned to the US market three years ago and quickly re-established the product, and a nationwide dealer network, due to its famous past and brand recognition.

Lambretta USA, a division of Lambretta International, will be competing directly with Vespa again for the throne of the USA scooter market.

Lambretta International, owned by the Khurana family of Seattle, WA, has entered into an Operating Agreement with CMSI of Preston, WA to manage the North American Lambretta operations, including US final assembly, Marketing and Customer Services for Lambretta USA. (.....)

June 28, 2004 - CMSI Announces Design and Engineering Agreement for New Lambretta

CMSI is pleased to announce that it has entered into an agreement with Scooter Innovations of Preston, England. This important agreement is the result of months of research and consideration of various design and engineering experts. Scooter Innovations ltd, (Lambretta laboratory) owned and operated by Frank Sanderson, was chosen for this design phase because of its extensive experience and outstanding reputation among Lambretta enthusiasts in the cutting edge scooter market of UK.

ÔÇ£After a week of interviews and inspections in England with Frank Sanderson of Scooter Innovations and his development partners, there is no question that we have found the perfect matchÔÇØ, According to officials f CMSI.

Scooter Innovations and its sister company PM Tuning combined have over 60 years of road tested experience with scooter design and performance solutions. Their projects have been featured numerous times over the past several years in European scooter publications.

According to Tom Lynott, CMSI President heading up the Lambretta USA team, ÔÇ£this agreement is an important step in producing a new Lambretta that will be well received by the discerning scooter buyer. Gathering information provided by industry leaders as well as overwhelming numbers of enthusiasts who have been providing feedback on the www.lambrettausa.com, has helped us form a clear picture of what the market is looking for from the re-introduction of the Lambretta scooter.ÔÇØ The new production Lambretta will be a combination of the classic styling of the 60ÔÇÖs and the best engineering and performance components available today. The design will be a progression from the popular Series 3 Lambretta. Plenty of focus will also be placed on performance and handling characteristics with Italian engines, adjustable shocks and disc brakes both front and rear. According to Lynott, ÔÇ£the new production Lambretta will be a perfect marriage of both old and new, which is exactly what the market is asking for.ÔÇØ

ÔÇÿPhase ZeroÔÇÖ prototypes developed by Scooter Innovations will be patterned for production and the 2005 release of the new Lambretta scooters.
